Mangaluru: Scooter-lorry collide head-on, woman loses life

Mangaluru, Oct 26: A woman was killed when the scooter she was travelling collided with a black stone laden 12 wheel lorry near Mudipu Mithakodi on Friday, October 26.

The deceased has been identified as Panela resident Zubeida (35). Her husband Ismael sustained injuries.

The couple was on their way from Panela to Mudipu on a scooter. The heavily loaded lorry rammed into the scooter head-on.

Angry locals hurled stones at the lorry and damaged its windshield.

The lorry driver fled from the spot.

    You should check the license of heavy duty lorry driver is a qualified to drive the vehicle ! sometimes the so called qualified driver giving a chance to his cleaner to learn the driving on road ! Most of these truck drivers are boosing and drive specially on a long trip !

    Also reminds me about toll gate maintenance of roads ! which is a joke ! the roads are called national roads which is not in international level it suppose to be ! but our greedy contractor and lack of supervision from govt authorities pass the bills without checking the quality !
