Mangaluru, Oct 26: Dakshina Kannada district has been witnessing a steady rise in the number of H1N1 (swine flu) cases. A few days back, 29 persons in the district were tested positive for this disease. During the last 11 days, ten more positive cases have been reported, taking the total to 39.
The district health department has been claiming that it has been doing everything within its command to regulate the spread of this disease. The officials had conducted survey around the houses of four persons who recently died of suspected swine flu. It said that in spite of taking all precautions, the virus has been spreading. However, several of the patients are getting cured and discharged while the others are being treated in government and private hospitals, and all of them are recovering, the department stated.
Out of 403 persons tested for this disease, 39 positive cases have emerged in the district and most of the cases belong to the city. District health officer, Dr Ramakrishna Rao, said that precautionary measures are being taken and H1N1 is under control.
