Kochi, Oct 23: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Monday, October 22 began its disciplinary procedures against activist Rehana Fathima, whose attempt to visit Sabarimala had triggered a controversy. She was transferred to the Ravipuram branch in Kochi. BSNL officials said that more action will follow after the completion of an internal inquiry.
According to reports, she is now posted in a department branch where she does not have to meet people directly. She was working as a telephone mechanic in Kochi's Boat Jetty branch before the transfer.
Meanwhile, Rehana, in a Facebook post has said that she was awaiting her transfer since five years and Lord Ayyappa’s blessings helped her which initiated the transfer orders all of a sudden.
She was expelled from the Muslim community by the Kerala Muslim Jama'ath Council on Saturday for ‘hurting the sentiments of lacs of Hindu devotees’. On Sunday, the police had registered a case against Rehana over her social media post, which allegedly hurt religious sentiments.
Her house had earlier been vandalized by alleged pro-Hindu men on Friday following her attempt to enter the hill shrine with Hyderabad-based journalist Kavitha Jakkala.
