Bantwal: Five youngsters arrested for abusing woman police sub-inspector

Bantwal, Oct 22: Bantwal traffic police arrested five youngsters for abusing a woman police sub-inspector (SI) who was on duty at Narayana Guru Circle at B C Road on Sunday October 21.

Vikesh (27), Jithesh (31), Austin (23), Arwin (21) and Aldrin (18) all residents of Moodbidri are the arrested persons.

It is said that woman SI, Manjula K M, was on duty near Narayana Guru Circle. She stopped the car bearing registration number KA 19 MF 4249 for having tinted glass and for driver not wearing the seatbelt. At that time, these five youngsters started abusing the woman SI in foul language and they even obstructed her from doing her work.

Police later seized the car and arrested the youngsters.

They have booked under section 149, 147, 143, 353 and 504 IPC.

    There are many cars in Mangalore with tinted glass. What are the police doing only trying to nab the two wheeler riders and pillion riders who are traumatised, but the four wheeler divers not bothered driving with tinted glass. The police should really do something.

    I do not understand, why these youngsters have been booked. Some people including police personnel cannot bear youngsters enjoying life. Here the only issue is tinted glass and not wearing seat belt. She could have politely told the youngsters to wear the belt.

    Here, the cop definitely is abusing her power. If the youngsters are having alchohol and driving, definitely, she has the right.
    My question here, why female police has to question is the male without male police personnel. Some thing fishy. When male police question the lady drivers, big issue. Why not the same applicable here.

    I am sure, this lady copy is abusing her power as these youngsters have not harmed anybody except they were enjoying the car drive.

    The lady cop stopped their car because it was tinted she was not abusing power she did what she was supposed to do & that's what all cops do. what are you talking about ? & you are saying she has no right to question male drivers without male police personal i don't think this a right comment.

    Firstly these boys have to be taught how to behave with elderly people & also to obey the traffic rules .If they are wrong in some way they hv to agree ,very sorry to these young boys who have learnt in convent & behaving like this .If they had spoken a bit polite nothing would have been happened even if they are wrong.But we can’t straightaway put blame on lady officer who is doing her duty

    I am surprised that you are supporting these arrogant youngsters who had the audacity to abuse a lady cop in uniform. Not wearing a seat belt is a punishable offense all over the west where the driver has to pay a fine. Having tinted glasses in a vehicle is against the rules in India. First these boys should be taught how to behave and follow the traffic rules. Spending a few days in a jail will help them understand how to treat people especially women officials with respect.

    I totally support you view since he just wasn't drinking and driving and the only thing he didn't do was wearing a seat belt?! You can't create such issues for that we youngsters do have fun we have a bad habbit of abusing everyone may be with or without a reason but wasn't there any other male police officer she could call for help any ways they could not escape from there the male police would have taken care if they had abused him and issue could have been resolved without even arresting them and I don't believe that all five had abused here that's a sure lie please do support the innocent

    Proper investigation is required as some traffic police unnecessary harasser drivers. Sometime for not wearing a seat belt they treat public as if they have done a big crime. Quietly charge them INR 500/- and allowed them to go.. Till they pay the penalty all their government jobs to be blocked including Bank ATM card etc...

    @Peace lover India,Because police stopped the car whether man or woman and enquires why did they not wear seat belt ,doesnt mean that they should abuse a woman ,in filthy words .First they could apologize and could proceed with seat belt.Afterall it is for their safety and a rule they didnt care.They should first learn to follow rule ,second learn to respect police and women.May be they were drunk?or on tour of theft?

    For your kind informantion only non hindu terrorists were punished in India till date and hanged to death. Even killer of Ghandhiji was set free bcoz he was hindu!!!     If the lady SI has abused her power and do not know how to perform her duties, what treatment do you suggest to the lad SI.

    Most of the police staff unfortunately have not been trained properly to deal with the public. Some times even the public are mean and rude. But here, I do not think, these youngsters have gone out of the way. SI could not have tolerated as these boys were having car and enjoying the car drive. Unexpressed jealously might be the root cause for that lady SI to punish these youngsters. it is left to the police department , whether they want these youngsters to be future pillars of society or criminals of tomorrow.

    Yes exactly... In this case parents should teach children the value of money and they should explain the children the difficulties are involved in earning money. Parents should take the appropriate account where the money is being utilized once given to them. Should not be negligent.
