Kundapur, Oct 22: "BJP leaders have been misleading innocent people into believing that the lies they keep repeating is truth, and on the basis of falsehood, they have risen to power by confining the people under the tomb of lies. Because of the lies created by itself, BJP will meet its doom in the coming days. The country will soon witness power in the hands of the third front," predicted Udupi district in-charge minister, Dr Jayamala.
She was addressing an electioneering meeting organized in favour of coalition's common candidate, Madhu Bangarappa, who is fighting the coming Lok Sabha bypoll from Shivamogga constituency on JD(S) ticket. The meeting was held at Rotary Hall at Byndoor on Sunday October 21 morning.
She said that if BJP gets power in the state, it will sow the seeds of hatred between castes and religions whereby the state will slide back by 40 years. To stop this, both JD(S) and Congress have been working together with all their might to serve the people under the leadership of Kumaraswamy, she stated. If Madhu Bangarappa, a close associate of Kumararaswamy, is elected this time, Byndoor constituency can witness lot of development, she explained.
She reminded the people labout a story from the Mahabharata as which one person was nurtured by pooling food of all the 100 others in order to decimate evil forces, she said Congress and JD(S) had to come together for this purpose. "Although we were in the opposition in the past, we never hated one another. But after BJP rose to power, the people have been deprived of the freedom of expression in undivided Dakshina Kannada district. The people hesitate even to speak to one another. That is why we should oppose BJP," she said.
Jayamala wanted to know from BJP which girls they have saved under their 'Beti Bachao' campaign, duly supported by statistics. She also wondered where are the 'Acche Din' Modi had promised.
In his address, former minister, Vinay Kumare Sorake, said that the fact that BJP was very much interested in this election is borne out of its declaration of candidate within half an hour of electoral announcement. He wanted to know from Yeddyurappa, who is critical of family politics, why he chose his own son in his place and whether there are no other capable candidates in BJP. He charged Yeddyurappa of misusing money collecteld through taxes on the by election. He said that Yeddyurappa had caused bypoll four times in the past and charged the father-son duo of doing nothing for the constituency they represented for ten years.
Pramod Madhwaraj said that if the coalition candidate wins this time in the bypoll, it will herald a new era of political crystallization. He hoped that the people who meted out injustice to sincere MLA will correct their mistake by voting in favour of Bangaappa's son. He said Bangarappa was always in favour of poor people. He said that if Madhu Bangarappa gets elected, Congress and JD(S) will be back to their grand old days.
In his introductory address, former legislator, K Gopal Poojary, said that he was defeated although he worked very well and did not commit any mistake. He requested the people of Byndoor constituency to introspect on what they did and whether they got anything from Ydddyurappa and Rghavendra who shared this constituency between them for ten years. He also challenged union minister, Anant Kumar, to provide kerosene to fishermen directly, duly promising to stop criticizing the centre if this is done. "Voters defeated me. Now, BJP MLA, Sukumar Shetty, has been neglecting party activists within three months of rising to power. Raghavendra and Yedduurappa visit Byndoor only when there is some real estate business," he criticized. He also charged MLC, Srinivas Poojary, of developing expertise in weaving stories based on plain lies.
Candidate, Madhu Bangarappa, said that Kumaraswamy has dreamt of the third front as he wants the country to move forward. He said that if he is elected it will pave way for a new direction for the country's politics. He said if he wins, the credit will go to Gopal Poojary. He reminded that schemes like Ashraya, Aradhana and free power to pump sets had been brought into force by his father. He promised to continue in the footsteps of his father if the people vote for him.
