Udupi, Oct 22: The indefinite strike launched by Tipper Owners Association in the district against the failure of the district administration to solve the issue of sand shortage took a new turn as the protestors gathered in front of deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on Monday, October 22.
There is no permission for the protest and the election of code of conduct is in place due to Byndoor-Shivamogga bypoll.
The tipper owners had warned on Saturday that they will escalate their agitation by holding protest in front of the office of the DC by bringing their trippers. But police did not allow the vehicles to enter the city. The protestors reached the place by other vehicles.
Around 750 agitators are seen on the spot. They said they will not vacate the place until chief minister (CM) intervenes.
This is the fifth day of the strike.
More details are awaited.
