Mangaluru, Oct 21: Many areas in Dakshina Kannada district experienced fog since late evening on Saturday October 20, which affected movement of vehicles. As thick fog enveloped the environment, vehicles on state and national highways were forced to slow down on account of visibility problem. The vehicles taking the Charmadi ghat route were the most adversely affected ones.
The problem was not too much prevalent on Shiradi ghat road as heavy vehicles are not allowed there. This happened to be the first fog of the season. Normally people here believe that appearance of fog indicates end of rainfall. Saturday night also remained cooler as compared to earlier days.
Many parts of Dakshina Kannada district experienced drizzle during different hours on Saturday.The climate remained cloudy and minimum temperature of 22.8 degree and maximum of 32.7 degree celsius was experienced.
Beltangady received maximum of 368.8 mm rainfall, Bantwal got 254.9, Mangaluru got 234.5, Puttur 209.4 and Sullia 22.9 mm rainfall during the 24 hours period ending 8.30 am on Saturday.
