Mangaluru, Oct 20: Wakf and minority welfare minister, B Z Zameer Khan, noting that former chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation, Anwar Manippady, has been repeatedly saying that large Wakf properties have been usurped, challenged the latter to set aside three days to help his ministry to conduct a survey so that irregularities can be identified and action can be taken.
He was speaking to media persons during the progress review meeting of the department held at Maulana Azad Bhavan here on Thursday October 18.
"I am not bothered what judgement the court will deliver relating to this dispute. As a minister, I have concern about the property of the Lord. Therefore, it would be right to conduct survey with the help of surveyors. Let Manippady accompany me during the joint survey," he invited. He also asked Manippady to first get the Wakf property occupied by BJP leader, Ravishankar Mijar, in the city vacated. He noted that in Dakshina Kannada, only three encroachments have been identified and Ravishankar Mizar has brought stay from the high court against his eviction.
The minister said he has passed orders to release Rs 70 lac toward disposal of 1,374 pending applications under Shaadi Bhagya scheme.
Yenepoya University chancellor, Y Abdulla Kunhi, district Wakf advisory committee president, Kanachur Monu and several others were present.
