Bengaluru, Oct 19: Mysuru BJP MP Prathap Simha on Friday took a dig at state minister and senior Congress leader D K Shivakumar saying that along with religion tag for Lingayats, the latter must apologise for celebrating Tipu Jayanthi too.
Taking a dig at Shivakumar, Prathap Simha wrote on Twitter that it is good that the latter apologized for dividing Veerashaivas. "Now apologise for celebrating Tipu Jayanthi too, people will forgive you," he wrote.
Earlier during inauguration of Dasara in Mysuru, Simha had urged chief minister H D Kumarswamy to stop celebrating Tipu Jayanthi.
Earlier D K Shivakumar at an event organized by prominent Veerashaiva seers in Gadag had said that the government and politicians should not interfere in matters of religion and caste. He opined that decision on Lingayat movement had led to party's defeat in the assembly polls. “Several ministers said many things, but there is no bigger testament to the fact than the people’s verdict recently."
