Karkala: Man dies of lightning strike at Ajekar

Karkala, Oct 19: A man died after lightning struck him near Ajekar Marnegrama on Friday, October 19.

The victim is Karkala resident Prashanth Pai (36). He was staying in Davanagere and was employed in a software company in Bengaluru.

He had come to the house of his relatives in Karkala due to Navarathri. He had visited Udupi Bairampalli Harikandike temple and offered puja and was driving his car towards Karkala. He stopped his car at Kaikamba, Marne village near a petty shop to drink tea when the lightning struck. Four other people were standing near him but the lightening did not affect them.

Karkala tahsildar Mohammed Isaac visited the spot. Karkala Kasaba village accountant Shivaprasad and Ajekar village resident Riaz were present.
