Kasargod, Oct 18: Protests in Kasargod held today against implementation of Supreme court verdict by Kerala state government permitting women of all ages in Sabarimala temple were successful in the district.
Buses suspended their operations. Only a few vehicles were found on the road. Shops remained closed. Sabarimala conservation committee and international Hindu Parishat with the support of BJP called for 24 hours long bundh in Kerala.
Stones were hurled on a KSRTC bus. Passengers and bus staff escaped unhurt. Supporters of bundh in Trikkannad intercepted a vehicle in the morning. Traffic was disrupted by the protesters in several places in the district. Government and schools were closed as today is a government holiday. Therefore, protests did not affect government employees and students. However it created chaos in daily lives. Police took precautionary measures in the district.
