Udupi, Oct 17: “Shivamogga Lok Sabha elections are inevitably in front of us. Madhu Bangarappa, son of former chief minister Bangarappa will contest the elections as coalition government candidate. We will win if we combine traditional votes. Let us be prepared for united campaign. Udupi congress district committee should centralize Byndoor. We should consider the loss in Vidhan Sabha elections as a challenge, appoint observers for booth level from district committee and review and contemplate the progress of elections. We should make sure that no house is left out from the visits of our activists. Election results will be in our favour if we work like that. District committees should get down to work now itself. The win in the elections will change the course of politics in the country,” said former union minister and Rajya sabha member Oscar Fernandes. He was speaking at the Udupi district committee meeting held in Congress bhavan as a prelude to by elections.
“He said that this election is important. We should reach the failure of union government to the people and work hard to make the elections results come in our favour. District congress should shape a plan for it. May the win of our coalition candidate be the foreword for Karnataka Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
“People suspect that the elections are announced for ulterior motive. There is a plan by BJP to win the elections and announce during 2019 Lok Sabha elections that it is people's mandate. Let us defeat their plan by working together as a unit,” said Vinay Kumar Sorake.
