Bengaluru, Oct 14: Angered that his wife gave birth to a baby girl, a 21-year-old Nepalese man killed his newborn daughter by slamming her against a wall at his residence in Banaswadi in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The infant’s mother, who is inconsolable, reported the incident to the police, who arrested the accused Gokul Kadra who was all set to flee.
According to police, Kadra a daily wage labourer had married Bule 10 months ago. Twenty days back, Bule gave birth to a baby girl, which had infuriated Kadra who wanted a baby boy. Bule told police, that Kadra used to beat the newborn whenever she cried after urination.
On October 11, the baby was crying and would not stop even after being fed. Kadra began shouting at Bule and the baby, but the girl’s crying increased and she urinated on the floor. Kadra began beating the baby and while Bule begged him to stop, he hurled the newborn against the wall killing her on the spot.
The neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to Kadra’s house to find Bule sprawled on the floor crying. They rushed the newborn to the hospital, who declared that she was brought dead.
When police went to arrest Kadra, they found him fanatically packing bags all set to flee.
The baby’s body was shifted to Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College Hospital where an autopsy was conducted on Friday. Kadra has been booked for murder and a local court has remanded him to judicial custody.
