Bengaluru, Oct 12: The hike in bus fares which Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and its sister corporations had proposed on account of spiralling fuel prices, has again been put on hold. The corporations had cited losses while seeking steep revision in bus fares.
In the meanwhile, chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, who had put the bus fare hike on hold earlier, has now instructed transport department officials not to increase the fares for now. Although the proposals mooted by these corporations had been approved in the past and the hike was put on hold at the last minute, with the aim of holding discussions, the chief minister is said to have made up his mind now against affecting the hike.
Sources say that this decision has been taken in view of the forthcoming by election.
