Bengaluru, Oct 12: Chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, squarely blamed BJP's politics for the non-cooperative stance owned by nationalized banks as regards decision on farm loan waiver scheme of the state government.
Speaking to media persons at Vidhana Soudha on Thursday October 11, he claimed that the state government is prepared to release funds for loan waiver. He accused the banks of not providing details about the farmers who have availed loans with them. He felt that this attitude of banks has its roots in BJP's politics.
"As per the decision taken under the loan waiver scheme, the government has to repay loans to nationalized banks on behalf of farmers with effect from November 1. We had requested the nationalized banks several times seeking details of farmers and loan amounts outstanding in their names. But the banks have not provided the date base as sought. They are not willing to provide details even when we are prepared to pay them. This is nothing but politics," he felt.
He said that the BJP leaders from the state failed to get any financial assistance from the central government for the loan waiver scheme of the state government. "Instead, these leaders are continuing to indulge in malicious propaganda against the state government. The nationalized banks are under the control of the central government, and they fall under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and finance minister, Arun Jaitley. I will be grateful to BJP leaders if they speak to these central leaders and get the information sought by us for waiving of loans of farmers," he stated.
