Ramanagara, Oct 12: Local leader and MLC, C M Lingappa, said that if the Congress does not put up its candidate from the local constituency, local leader, Iqbal Hussain, would be fielded to fight the election. He added that if Iqbal is not willing, he himself will fight against the JD(S) candidate.
Speaking to media persons at Bidadi in the taluk on Thursday October 11, Lingappa said that his decision cannot be changed and as a sincere party worker, he wants to protect the interests of Congress party and its workers. "We are not worried whether the government lasts or not. Our leader and MP, D K Suresh, too shares our opinions and he too wants to save the identity of the party and its workers in this constituency. But he is under pressure from his elder brother and minister, Shivakumar," he said.

Lingappa at the same time said that he was against the decision of his son, L Chandrashekhar, joining BJP. He said none from his family are supporting this decision and that he would not make efforts to bring Chandrashekhar back into the party. He said his two other children are with him, and Chandrashekhar will be separate.
At the meeting held in the town on Thursday under the president of district president, S Gangadhar, discussions were held about fielding of party candidate. Some workers, who got enraged during the discussions, closed the doors of the office and held protest. After the leaders assured them that they would organize ward and panchayat level meetings, put together opinions of party workers and bring the same to the notice of the top leaders, the situation eased.
