Bengaluru, Oct 11: Instead of Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s original plan of addressing the past and present employees of public sector undertaking, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) inside the company’s premises on the Narendra Modi government’s controversial decision for purchasing Rafale fighter jets from France, the meeting will now be held in Cubbon Park in Bengaluru on October 13.
Both the Karnataka High Court and Vidhana Soudha are close to the Cubbon Park.
The Congress party has been targeting the Modi government of irregularities and corruption in the award of the offset manufacturing contract from the French company Dassault at the insistence of the NDA regime ignoring HAL and favouring the Anil Ambani led Reliance outfit, which was formed just 15 days before the deal for purchase of 36 Rafale aircrafts was signed in Paris.
The state unit of Congress has planned a an interaction programme of Congress president Rahul Gandhi with former and current employees of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) on the Rafale controversy at Cubbon Park in the City on Saturday.
Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the Congress has not sought permission from the HAL for conducting the programme inside the premises.
About 100 employees and ex-employees would participate in the programme, he said.wever, a public meeting of Rahul Gandhi at public ground at K R Puram has been cancelled owing to security reasons.
The HAL employees union has told a section of the media that it would not give permission to the Congress President to conduct the programme inside its premises.
An official source in the HAL said that it had not received any communication with regard to Rahul Gandhi’s interaction programme with its employees.
