Udupi, Oct 11: Ashwath Devadiga, a resident of Kalavara village here alleged that seven members of a family have resorted to illegal acquisition of an acre of government owned land at Bettu, near Subrahmanya temple, Kalavara village after illegally constructing a shed overnight and are trying to regularize it by submitting an application under 94C. “The deputy commissioner has ordered on September 7 to vacate the land. But the concerned officials are adopting go slow tactics,” alleged Ashwath Devadiga.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, October 11 he said that Kalavara village residents Geetha Shedthi, Akshatha S Shetty, Shamala Shetty, Jyothi Shedthi, Vasanthi Shedthi, Srimathi Shedthi and Sugandhi Shedthi have cut forest trees and leveled the land without permission and illegally constructed a shed. “We have complained six months ago while the shed was being constructed to the gram panchayat, tahsildar, assistant commissioner and deputy commissioner. The crime against seven people is proved in the report by gram panchayat village accountant and revenue inspector. The tahsildar on orders from deputy commissioner has issued notices on September 9 to all the seven people on the basis of the report. Though 26 days have passed by, the land is not vacated,” he said.
“Local MLA and revenue officials appear to be involved in it. Our land is adjacent to survey number 111 of Kalavara village. Our land also is Kumki. But the seven members of the family have tried to acquire our land, he alleged.
