Karkala, Oct 10: The forest officials have succeeded in catching hold of two out of five hunters who had entered the sanctuary near Hebri on Wednesday, October 10. It is learnt that the gang of hunters had arrived from Vittal in Bantwal taluk and both the persons caught had guns with them.
The hunters had managed to hunt down a Chevrotain, also known as mouse-deer.
The identities of the arrested hunters have been given as Aziz from Pathoor, Kerala, and Sahul Hameed from Kukkila in Vitla Padnoor village. Hameed alias Talwar Hameed from Kodangayi, Vitla Padnoor and two others succeeded in fleeing during the raid.
Car which was used in the crime, guns, bullets, and knife was taken into possession by the police personnel.
