Kundapur, Oct 10: Byndoor MLA, B M Sukumar Shetty, who has been in the habit of sticking to the ritual of taking bath in the sea and paying obeisance at the temple as per Hindu belief system during the auspicious 'Pradosha' periods, had reached the seashore at Kirimanjeshwara here on Monday October 8 for taking holy bath in the sea on the occasion of 'Mahalaya Amavasya'.
He invited danger and had been caught by the grip of the strong waves, but those near him exercised presence of mind and saved him from the dangerous situation.
At around 11 am, the MLA went into the sea with some people who had accompanied him. Even after the others advised him against moving ahead in the sea, he went on, it is said. The local fishermen too warned him against taking risks, but Sukumar Shetty did not heed to their advice, it is said. After moving a long distance ahead, he was returning after sighting a huge wave, when he fell due to the powerful wave. The others immediately surrounded him and stopped him from the risk of getting washed away by the wave.
After the bath, the MLA visited Lord Agasthyeshwara temple at Kirimanjeshwar.
