Mangaluru: Student found guilty of assaulting principal after two years

Mangaluru, Oct 10: The charges against a degree student of a private college in city of assaulting the principal have been proved on Tuesday, October 9.

Mohammed Shahnawaz (22), a third year BBA student, is the accused.

Shahnawaz had attacked the principal for trying to discipline him for not attending classes regularly, two years ago.

A murder attempt case was registered at Bunder police station under IPC 324 and 504 in this regard and police sub-inspector Madan had submitted the chargesheet. The judge Nerale Veerabhadrayya found the accused guilty after the trail. The court has reserved the verdict.

 

In a shocking incident, the student had assaulted the principal and ran away from the college premises on October 20, 2016. Mohammed Shahnawaz was warned earlier by the principal to attend the classes regularly as he had shortage of attendance. The principal had also told the student that without the adequate attendance, he would not be allowed to appear for exams.

    It takes 2 years to prove their guilty..shows the efficiency of our judiciary system..Judges these days are interested in fining doctors for bad handwriting who are over burdened with patiemts..Even Judges also need to be fined for giving late judgements..

    This kind of student behaviour should always land up in jail. Lets make our society a bit more practical and organised. Assaulting a principal is not a minor act.
    It is important for any institute to observe some rules before letting any students take admission. Criminal background check, entrance exams and personal interview must be conducted ahead of admission. These days tons of colleges hv spurred across the district and tom dick and harry get into colleges without amy efforts or merit. Most colleges are run as a business. The colleges shud have some personal security force to handle student mobs and criminals that walk in and out to tamper with situations.
    There are many youngsters in DK who cannot afford to make it to colleges despite having genuine aspirations. There has to be an arrangement to admit students purely on their interest, dreams and goals. Attending college for the sake of fun and.wasting everybodys time, without any ambition is a national waste.

    I wish student Mohammed Shahnawaz (22), a third year BBA student, who assaulted the Principal should be forgiven provided he acknowledged his mistake. Hope the Principal will not initiate any further action against him. We want students who will be responsible citizens and do not want him to be a criminal in the future.

    In any cost this youth shouldn't be punished that too while he regrets or else soon we will be producing a future criminal. All youth one way or other are breaking rules and this boy might have been little more. Arresting him, jailing him all fine but now leave him and forgive him just like how pope John did to his shooter

    I do not agree with you. Let the law take its own course. These people think they can do anything and get scot-free. Forgiveness is fine, but should not be at the cost of justice. Here money power played a role. He thought he could do anything.

    Lucky for a student of another institution in the city that the authorities resolved the matters without giving much heed to the perpetrators of the incident.

    Students must understand that their future is at stake, before proceeding with their ill-will.

    these people or students will be punished severely and imposed the applicable sections what inspector did here correct.

    students are not understanding the value of fees to the school. parents are in gulf, and kids they think easy money. can't believe this type of action.

    Only Mr. Gopal Krishna really understands what is psychology. Other commentators are just blind.

    If saffron terrorists who have placed bombs and killed people can be scot free in this country, why not a boy of 20 (when he committed the crime) cannot be set free or given a lenient sentence or sent for rehabilitation.

    This shows the double standards of the so called democracy of our country and also the partisan attitude of the people, who say unity in diversity and drive away UP and BIharis from Gujrat and try to set another sectarian violence.

    Till the saffron gang is active, the country will be backwards atleast by 50 years when compared to the developed nations of this world.

    Attacking your teacher is equivalent to attacking your parents, he should be given a harsh punishment, so that no other student will follow his deed.

    Counselling for a person who is studying in a private college?, his parents must have paid a huge amount of donations to get admission in a private college.

    Therefore he must have been counseled by his family that the amount they have paid have given him rights to behave as he desires. The court of law should not spare such elements and them an example that no one with such behaviour will be spared, even at the cost of future and career. Imagine what this guy can do if he was in the journal.

    it seems the two comments that been made for this article are purely partisan because the commentators are chaddis and the boy belongs to the community which these people love to hate.

    I do support that any person who has committed wrong should be given proper punishment. However, in this case the young man needs counselling and rehabilitation.

    Hope better sense prevails while commenting.

    He is from a normal family. He is not a child who grew up in streets. Those kids who had difficult childhood and troubled home atmosphere need counselling. Not a rogue like him. A short jail term will do good to him and also discourage other students from acting like goonds. Community love should not blind us from reasoning.
