Beltangady, Nov 4: Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade advised the people to concentrate on improving their internal beauty too, in addition to the external appearance, for the development of which they pay so much attention now-a-days.
He was speaking after presiding over the 15th convocation of Ujire Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Yoga and Naturopathy College on Monday November 3.
"Our health improves as we increasingly feast on the beauty of nature. Naturopathy is becoming increasingly popular, and those who are trained in this system of treatment are getting a lot of opportunities in India and abroad. Those who get the knowledge of this system, should, apart from treating people, advise people on the natural methods through which they can conserve their health," Heggade said.
State health and family welfare department chief secretary Madan Gopal, speaking after handing over degree certificates to the successful students, noted that Yoga and naturopathy are playing an important role in the lives of human beings now-a-days. Yoga enables people to become stronger both physically and mentally, he said. He also hailed the educational institutions being run by SDM Education Society, for laying emphasis on maintaining quality of education.
Supreet Singh, who won the gold medal with highest marks in Yoga and Naturopathy, silver medalist Veena Mehandale, winners of gold medal in Yoga Vikram Pai and Minchukar Suhas were honoured on the occasion. A total of 47 students got their degree certificates on the occasion.
SDM Education society secretary Dr B Yashovarma was present. Dr Y Rudrappa welcomed. Dr Sujata delivered introductory address. Principal Dr Prasant Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
