Bengaluru, Oct 5: The quick response by the Bengaluru city police in tracing a lost mobile phone in a cab has been appreciated by the netizens on social media.
On September 29, two Bengaluru residents Akanksha and Shruti booked Uber cab and left their phone in the cab. When they informed the Uber Company, they failed to get any response. When they asked the driver he said that any other passenger might have taken the lost phone. However, the phone was recovered from the driver himself, after the girls filed a complaint at Marathahalli police station.
The entire incident was narrated on Facebook by one Akash SK. His Facebook post lauding the quick response by the Bengaluru police read, "We always tend to criticize the mistakes and publicise it and if the same people do something good we often neglect or never appreciate at all. When it comes to police we always have negative comments or a perspective that all are corrupted. But this is an incident which happened to my friends, which helped us to regain our trust and confidence in Bengaluru City Police."
"On 2nd Oct, Akanksha Attri and Shruti Sinha went to Marathahalli Police station to file an FIR for a lost phone in an Uber cab which they had lost on 29th Sept. Since the incident they were repeatedly calling the cab driver and also registered repeated complaints in the #Uber help which never helped us. All that the driver was saying was he was a clean gentleman and the next passenger might have taken the phone. With very less hope we thought that we would go and inform this to police and register an FIR. The police at the Marathahalli Station were welcoming and they heard their complaint and called the driver then and there in front of them and enquired about the phone and asked him to return it. The driver was again repeating the same story. The higher ranked police officer asked them to return by 5pm."
"With very less hopes they went and they were surprised to see the driver standing at the corner and the police with a smile asking them "Idu nimma Phonaa madam, check maadi". It was an overwhelming moment that we got our phone back as we had almost left the hope of finding it. Once they got the phone, they did not know what needs to be done next and was even ready to pay them (as that was the impression they had). Instead, the officer told them; "not all officers are bad and corrupted madam" and only requested them to share this experience among their friends so that at least some of our perception about the force would change."
"We really appreciate the quick response of namma Bengaluru City Police and thanks for getting our phone back. This incident has given us confidence and a feeling that yes !!! We can go to them at any point in time for any genuine help," he posted.
Bengaluru police time and again have proved prompt in responding to citizen's queries.
