Bangalore, Nov 4: Anil Kumble's 18-year old career, which ended on Sunday, as a top-flight cricketer is a lesson in itself, and now the young lads wishing to pursue his footsteps might get a chance to learn from the master himself.
Among other things, starting an academy is a venture that Kumble has in his mind in his post-retirement life.
“There are plans to start an academy, not immediately but in a couple of months. The groundwork has already started,” the 38-year-old said. For sure, there will be a big queue of aspiring cricketers at his academy’s doorsteps. Now, it is also time for him to take a hobby on a more serious note. During his nearly two-decade long career, Kumble has developed a passion for photography. From the time he began clicking with a Hotshot camera during his maiden trip to England in 1992, it has never subsided.
“I take interest in photography, so maybe I will try my hand at that. I will take some time off to take photographs”, the ace leg-spinner told reporters after arriving to a rousing reception in the City on Monday afternoon. Kumble, who took over the reins of the Test team at a crucial juncture when Rahul Dravid relinquished the captaincy after the England tour in 2007, replied in the negative when asked whether he would take up any role if the BCCI assigned one. “I have been on the road for 18 years. Hadn’t had time to spend time with my family”.
