Udupi, Oct 3: The four-day ‘Paryatana Parva’ held from September 27 to 30, to mark World Tourism Day caught the attention of large number of tourists and locals. The event was set up at Malpe beach. There was a series of culture programmes including different folk arts and dances performed by local and international artistes.
Malpe beach is one of the best destinations for tourists. It offered a variety of adventure and water sports activities to indulge in like Water Sports Activities, Jet Ski or Water Scooter Rides, Parasailing, Banana Rides, Speed Boat Rides, Bumpi Rides, Speed Boat Cruise to St. Mary’s Island, Surfing and many more.
The event thrilled fans with a good food, winery, entertainment activities, beach volleyball tournament and other activities. The wine festival comprised creating awareness about wine grape cultivation, wine education sessions to train and encourage moderate wine consumption and as well offered wineries an opportunity to directly interact with consumers.
On first day, September 27, Yakshagana Byale was performed by Yakshagana guru Bannanje Sanjiva Suvarna and classic and non-classical dance form was performed by Sudhir Rao Kodavoor.
On the second day, September 28, there were series of cultural programmes like ‘Kangeelu’ and ‘Karaga Kolata’ performed by Prashanth Birthi. ‘Damami’ dance was performed by Juliana Fernandes. ‘Sangeetha Rasa Sanje’ was presented by Yashwanth Bannanje and fraternity, Moodbidre.
Third day of the festival was also mesmerized by diverse cultural programmes. On this day, ‘Khatak’ dance form was performed by Nirupama Rajendra and troupe. ‘Laghu Sangeetha’ concert was held by Gagan Gaonkar, Santhekatte, winner of the fifth season of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs’, a singing reality TV show. He stole the hearts of the audience.
Koraga’s cultural folk dance was performed by Babu Koraga, Pambur. ‘Koragara Kolalu’ and ‘Dolu Vadana’ by Ganesha Koraga.
‘Heritage Sail’ was specially organised for the guests on the third day. It was an amazing experience for guests to travel on the waves accompanied by artistes.
On last day, Beach Yogasana programme was held early in the morning. In the evening, ‘Nage Habba’ was performed by the well-known artistes Thonse Pushkala Kumar and team.
‘Nruthya Vaibhava’ performed by popular Nruthya Nikethana Udupi and Lakshmi Gururaj’s team. ‘Janapada Sangeetha’ was performed by Kalavathi Dayanand and team.
Also on the last day of celebration, cycling competition was held by Yuva Meridian Koteshwara. ‘Remote Control Air Show’ was held by Yuva Meridian Koteshwara Helipad Ground. This was organised for the first time in the district which attracted locals in large number.
‘Swacchata Hi Seva-Swatchata Pakvaad’ was organised by Kapu beach, Padubidri beach, Kodi beach and Thrasi Maravanthe beach. This was organised to spread the message of keeping environment clean and focusing on sanitation.
A para beach volleyball tournament was held for three days. Tamil Nadu team lifted the winner’s trophy along with cheque of Rs 20,000. Karnataka team succeeded to occupy the second place and received Rs 15,000 with trophy. Andhra Pradesh team secured third place along with trophy and cash prize of Rs 10,000.
Para Olympic Volleyball Federation of India President H Chandrashekar distributed the prizes.
The entire programme was organised in collaboration with district administration, Tourism department and Malpe beach development committee.
The main theme of World Tourism Day was 'Tourism and The digital transformation'.
