Puttur, Oct 3: In connection with an incident in which a person was killed and his body was thrown into Kuppetti rivulet in Beltangady taluk, the personnel of Dakshina Kannada district crime intelligence bureau and police personnel of the rural station here, in a joint operation, succeeded in arresting two persons who were absconding since the said murder.
The arrested accused happens to be Jeetu Saji (23), resident of Eliyatail in Pallittaya, Ernakulam, Kerala and Suhail Nazar (22) from Kungathi Parambil in Thayakattakere, Ernakulam. The arrests were made on October 1 from Manjeshwar railway station.
Unnikrishnan
The mortal remains of Unnikrishnan from Arekkippady in Kunnattanadu taluk, Ernakulam district, who was a notorious ruffian, was found from Kuppetti rivulet on September 3 this year. The police, who conducted scrutiny, felt that it could be a case of organized murder. They therefore had registered a case of murder.
The police who hit the trail of crime succeeded in arresting Aurangazeb (37) from Ernakulam district, and Muhammed Shamanaz (23) from Palakkad district. They revealed that relating to a property deal, Anas, a Kerala-based rowdy, was to get Rs 25 lac from and for recovery of this amount, four persons led by Unnikrishnan, had come to Uppinangadi, stayed in a lodge and left their loge late night on September 1. On the way they had tightened a nylon rope around the neck of Unnikrishnan, who was sleeping in the front seat of an Innova car in which they had come, and tossed the body into the rivulet which they came across.
The operation was conducted under the directions of district superintendent of police, Dr Ravikanthe Gowda, and additional superintendent of police, Sajit J. The team was led by police inspector of DCIB, Sunil Y Nayak, and Puttur rural circle inspector, Gopal Naik.
