Udupi: Retired DDPI K Sooryanarayan Navada Passes Away

Udupi, Nov 3: Retired deputy director of public instruction(DDPI) and principal of pre-university college, K Sooryanarayan Navada(78) from Kemmannu near here, died on Sunday November 2, after a brief illness. He is survived by wife, three daughters and a son.

Navada was known for his efficiency, honesty and discipine when in service. He had worked in the capacity of the headmaster and principal of various educational institutions in Udupi and Shimoga districts and as the DDPI of Bangalore and Kodagu districts, before retiring as the DDPI of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

He stayed committed to his ideals till his last breath and chose to shy away from limelight. He was an ideal teacher who worked hard to instill scientific temparament among his students.

    I am deeply disturbed to know the sad demise of Mr. K.S. Navada's death. He was a great teacher of his time. A highly disciplinarian , humble and a honest teacher. He had concern for poor students. He was my mentor during my school days. In the present generation, we hardly come across such a honest and committed teacher. My heartfelt condolenses to the bereaved family. May his soul rest in peace.

    Navad Sir was the Headmaster when i studied at the South School Udupi,in the early 70s. I remember him as gentle soul and very fine teacher. May his soul rest in peace.

    I am very much disturbed and sad to learn about our Head Master Mr Navda's death. I was his student in Volakadu Govt Municipal High School.Mr Navda was very strict disciplinarian and loved to teach. He has good concern for poor students. Today we lost a shining star who sacrificed his life for the cause of education. My condolences to the bereaved family.
