Udupi, Nov 3: Retired deputy director of public instruction(DDPI) and principal of pre-university college, K Sooryanarayan Navada(78) from Kemmannu near here, died on Sunday November 2, after a brief illness. He is survived by wife, three daughters and a son.
Navada was known for his efficiency, honesty and discipine when in service. He had worked in the capacity of the headmaster and principal of various educational institutions in Udupi and Shimoga districts and as the DDPI of Bangalore and Kodagu districts, before retiring as the DDPI of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
He stayed committed to his ideals till his last breath and chose to shy away from limelight. He was an ideal teacher who worked hard to instill scientific temparament among his students.
