Kundapur, Oct 2: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the Mathru Poorna, a scheme meant to meet the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women will be re-launched after making some important changes.
Addressing a taluk panchayath meeting in Kundapura presided by President Jayashri Mogaveera, Poojary said, "there are complaints that the scheme has not been implemented properly. There are demands to directly transfer money to the accounts of beneficiaries or provide nutritional food as earlier. The chief minister has agreed to do changes in the scheme."
“Construction of over 700 houses in Dakshina Kannada district has stopped due to non-availability of sand. During a meeting in Bengaluru, the chief minister has ordered not to restrict small vehicles till October 16 to transport sand for the purpose of construction of houses under housing scheme of the government," he said.
President Surendra Kharvi said, "Not a single officer visited Gangolli after a jetty collapsed and incurred loss in crores. For de-silting of river Rs 2 crore has been reserved. But the engineer who has undertaken the work has been looting government money," he alleged to which an officer replied that the work was started 10 years ago and he has no information about it.
The members also discussed about issues related to small irrigation, education, public works, revenue and other departments in the meeting.
Sthayi samiti president Narayana K, taluk officer Kiran Fadnekar and others were present.
Meanwhile, during the meeting officials and members indulged in a verbal spat over several issues. However, MLC Poojary intervened and brought situation under control.
