Mangaluru, Sep 30: Fire due to lightening and short circuit in a house has gutted electronic equipments and partly damaged the house at Bottu, Dharmanagar, Ullal municipal council 24th ward on Saturday evening, September 29 here. Fifteen children who had come for tuition and the house people had a providential escape.
Leela Poojarthy and her family stays for the last two years in the rented house belonging to Jayanth. Leela Poojarthy and her children Rashmita and Rakshita were in the house during the mishap. Rakesh, son of Leela Poojarthy had gone out for work. Rashmita was giving tuition and fifteen children were in the house. Meanwhile there was lightening and fire was seen in the TV. Children immediately brought it to the notice of house people.
Children and house people ran out of the house and informed local people. A group of young men who came rushing, succeeded in putting out the fire after throwing piles of sand. However, TV, Refrigerator, Fan, electronic equipment and valuable items in the house turned to ashes. Fire has engulfed the roof of the house and burnt it.
Municipal councillor Ravichandra Gatty visited the house and assured of providing compensation from the government. Village accountant K Pramod Kumar, assistant Navaneet and appointed councillor Richard Louis were present.
