Udupi, Sep 29: One-sided love affair is said to be the reason behind shocking murder-suicide case in Moodbidri.
It may be recalled that Lohith from Bajal had ended life after brutally murdering 20-year-old Charishma Poojary from Moodbidri.
It is learnt that Charishma had completed her PUC and was pursuing higher education in Mangaluru. She was also a trained dancer. Lohith, who is her distant relative, had told her mother Champavathi about marriage. But her mother told him that they were living in a rented house and asked him to wait until they settled down. Charishma too had not shown any interest in marriage. So he might have taken the extreme step, say sources.
On the fateful day, Charishma's mother and brother were out on work.
The police have recovered Lohith's car parked behind Charishma's house.
MLA Umanath Kotian visited the house and said that truth will be out after a thorough inquiry.
In a gruesome incident, Lohith hacked Charishma staying in a rented house near Pranthya here with her family on Friday, September 28. Charishma was alone in the house then.
Lohith stabbed her on the neck and hit on her head with a hammer. He later committed suicide in the house by hanging.
The girl died in the hospital without responding to treatment.
The mother of the Lohith is a staff at Karkala panchayat.
