Mangalore, Nov 1: "Those working as barbers are being ridiculed and insulted in a Tulu comedy programme being aired by a private FM radio station in Mangalore, since the last few months. The programme shows them in poor taste," said the State Savita Yuvasene state convenor Bannanje Govind Bhandary.
Those in this profession are pained at the pokes of jibes the programme airs in the name of entertaining people. They feel slighted and made to feel embarrased about their work. They are engaged in this profession to earn a living, and insulting them for making people laugh, is condemnable, he said.
He has asked the district deputy commissioner to ban the said programme, and warned of taking to the agitational path if this demand is not met.
