Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru Sep 27: "As per decision taken by education department, there will no shortening of Dasara holidays in the district” said district in-charge minister U T Khader.

Addressing media here on Thursday, September 27, U T Khader said, "This decision was taken after discussing with Zilla panchayat CEO, district administration and DDPI. There will no shortening of Dasara holidays in the district,”

He also said, "Rs 50 crore has been released to the PWD department for the construction of Mularpatna Bridge which recently collapsed during the heavy rain. NHAI will also construct new Gurpur Bridge at the cost of Rs 35 crore,”

Recently Vishwa Hindu Parishad and MLA Vedavyas Kamath had opposed in shortening Dasara holidays after it was revised to October 14 to 21 in the district in place of October 7 to 21. Now as per the order, holidays will be given from October 7 to 21.

Few days back when BJP MLA Mr Kamath gave a memorandum to concerned authorities including State govt to cancel the earlier note to cut down Dasara Holidays for South Kanara and Udupi district.... many viewers wrote - Studying is more important than cancelling the order now..... and many used abusive words and told that why should Govt cancel the order.... What happened now.... everybody scratching their head..... Mr Khader acted on the request by Mr Kamath and otherwise.... nobody is bothered about this.... including the Kudroli Dasara Management Team..... they also never approached Khader for this....
