Mangaluru, Sep 27: 'Joshiana 9.O', the two day national IT fest was inaugurated at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) on Thursday, September 27.
Deekshith Rai, Founder and CEO, Code Craft Technologies, Mangaluru, chief guest of the occasion, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp along with Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, director, SJEC, Fr Rohith D'Costa, assistant director, SJEC, Sudheer M, principal-in-charge, SJEC, and Sumangala M, HOD, MCA.
In his inaugural speech, Deekshith Rai said, "It is always good to have the fests related to some particular subjects in colleges. It helps students to know each other and share ideas. Skill is very important. It does not matter whether it is recognized or not. Invest in your skill and try to do your best to get a better output or result. It is not mandatory to be a topper in all subjects to show that you are intelligent. Skills are important and efforts in honing the skills make you the best in your subject,"
"Today students access everything through the internet. So I suggest the students to make positive use of internet and related access. Invest a little time in learning something new. If you do this IT companies will automatically call you and appreciate your skills. Always focus on the field that is interesting to you and go ahead and try to give your best in that field."
In his speech, Sudheer, principal-in-charge, said, "I am sure that all the participants will take part in this fest very actively. It is needed also. Otherwise, it will be only an event. The journey of the IT industry is not like a bed of roses. It has many challenges. A private agency which published a research report recently highlights 5 major challenges of the IT industry. The first challenge is introducing robotic and artificial intelligence replacing the human labour. Second is cyber security. The third challenge is maintaining the innovation. Fourth is feedback from customers. Fifth is catering to the requirement of customers. When we look at these challenges it suggests us to be more innovative and aggressive in the IT field."
In his presidential address, Fr Wilfred said, "You all are gathered here today with a competitive mood and innovative ideas. I call upon all participants to learn more about challenges of IT field along with the competition. Winning is not a final point. You should think beyond that and when you are returning from here, you should take something new. Joshiana is the best opportunity for you to meet each other and share your thoughts. Wishing you all a pleasant and result oriented IT fest."
