Belagavi, Sep 26: In a strange incident, a person from the district has married his friend's wife as his friend defaulted in repaying loan of Rs 500 availed from him.

Ramesh Hukkeri from Midakanatti in Gokak taluk in the district reportedly took with him Parvathi, wife of Basavaraj Konannavar from Murukibavi village, Bailahongala taluk. Ramesh is already married and is said to have forced his wife to go her parental home by inflicting physical torture.

Basavaraj has complained that even though he approached the police to register the complaint, they have not been entertaining his request.

Ramesh and Basavaraj were working in a hotel at Belalgavi in the past. During this period, Ramesh also got acquainted with Basavaraj's wife. Being in urgent need of funds, Basavaraj had raised a loan of Rs 500 from Rameh but he could not repay the amount on time. Ramesh, for this reason, took away Parvathi, and has been threatening with dire consequences whenever questioned, Basavaraj has said. At the same time, although Basavaraj repeatedly requested Parvathi over phone to come back to him, she has been refusing, it is gathered.

Basavaraj had married Parvathi in 2011. The couple has a three-year-old daughter. Basavaraj says that Parvathi is pregnant again, and has married Ramesh without being divorced by him. He also has said that Ramesh enticed Parvathi to accompany him by telling her false stories about him.
