Moodbidri, Sep 26: Relating to the murder of Sudarshan Jain from Hosabettu Kadambaraguthu, the police have taken a person identified as Prasad alias Pachchu (35) from Siddakatte into custody.
Prasad was produced in court whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody. With this arrest, the total number of persons arrested in the case has risen to five.
Sudarshan Jain (28), working in a textile store at Hosabettu had been stabbed with lethal weapons and killed by tightening a rope around his neck on August 11 this year. Relating to this murder, Sudarshan's brother, Sudhir Jain, his friends, Sandeep Shetty from Hokkadigoly and Balaraj from Venoor Arambody as well as Prabha alias Prabhakar from Arambody, who was the vehicle driver, stand arrested so far.
Sudhir Jain has been accused of murdering his elder brother, Sudarshan, with an eye on money. He had brought his elder brother by motor bike from his workplace to his home. On the way, he falsely told Sudarshan that his vehicle had developed some problems and asked him to go by a car in which his friends were seated. Sudhir's friends who were inside the car had allegedly killed Sudarshan and tossed his body into river Falguni at Puchchamogaru. His body was found at Maravoor dam on August 17 after which a case was registered at Moodbidri police station.
