Bengaluru, Sep 25: “Plans to construct tents for people who were displaced due to Kodagu floods has been dropped. Instead, Rs 10,000 per month will be paid as compensation to those who will construct houses,” said minister of housing and urban development, U T Khader.
Speaking to reporters at Vikasa Saudha here on Tuesday, he said it is estimated that around 800 families have lost their shelter due to the recent storm and floods. These people have been identified.
“Model houses at a cost of Rs 6 lacs each will be constructed for the displaced people, in the places mentioned by the Deputy Commissioner,” he said.
“Permissions of 72,370 beneficiaries are withheld as they had not registered their houses and not paid requisite amount within stipulated time. Around 19,000 people have submitted records while 32,000 beneficiaries have not yet submitted the same. Those who have not submitted documents are provided another opportunity till October 15. They should upload documents only through Gram Panchayat PDOs,” he added.
