Mangalore, Oct 31: Kishore George, a MDS student of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Derlakatte near here, who accidentally shot himself with his licenced pistol at the campus on Wednesday October 29, is recuperating in a private hospital here. After an operation was conducted on him on the night of Wednesday that lasted over five hours, the bullet found lodged close to his liver, was removed by the doctors. Kishore is recovering in the intensive care unit of the hospital.
In the meantime, a meeting of the teaching faculty of the said college held on Thursday unanimously supported the management's move to take stern action against Dr Kishore because of the beating the reputation of the college received owing of this incident. Sources said that the implementation of penal action has been deferred for the present, as the student is still under intensive care.
Sources added that the chancellor of K S Hegde Medical Academy Nitte Vinay Hegde, who visited the campus in connection with the accident, was visibly upset. Reportedly, Dr Kishore drove swanky cars and showed off his pistol to his peers and juniors and led a luxurious life.
It is learnt that the district deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao has sought more details on the incident from the police. Ullal police have not yet registered the case.
