Kasargod: Kambala committee to discuss organizing sport on legal terms

Kasargod, Sep 22: District Kambla committee that includes Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod has decided to hold special meeting in Moodbidri on September 23 to hold detailed discussions on organizing Kambala as per stipulations laid down in the law. District Kambala committee chief secretary M Rajiva Shetty Edthoor in a press conference said that owners of buffaloes, Kambala organizers, judges, runners and fans of Kambala will take part in the meeting.

“The meeting will be inaugurated by former minister Abhayachandra Jain with greetings by union minister Sadananda Gowda. Kambala committee president P R Shetty Kuloor will preside over the meeting. MLA Umanath Kotian, Dr Jeevandhar Ballal, Rohith Hegde and others will participate in the meeting. Installation of new office bearers will be held in the meeting,” he said.

He said that he had no official communication about Peta organization's litigation in the Supreme court. “Legal complications in Kambala sport are done away with and the sport was held in order last time. Kambala committee is bound to follow twelve stipulations by the government. A request will be sent to the government to modify them slightly,” he said.

District Kambala committee office bearers were present.

    Kambala is a cultural local sport which is quite famous in our rural area to be started again taking care of all the legal exceptions if any.
