Mangaluru, Sep 18: Through a judgement delivered on Saturday September 15, the third additional district court here awarded imprisonment of one year and fine of Rs 10,000 to a village accountant, who had been charged with demanding payment of bribe for issuing RTC.
The person who was found guilty and sentenced happens to be Vinod Kumar, village accountant of Sampaje.
Muhammed Haneef from Sullia had approached Vinod Kumar with a request to issue RTC in the name of his sister, Naseema. The village accountant reportedly demanded bribe of Rs 3,000 to meet this demand. Haneef thereafter filed complaint in Lokayukta police station here. The Lokayukta police inspector here conducted investigation and filed charge sheet in the court.
Judge of the district and special Lokayukta court here, Muraleedhar Pai, who conducted trial, found that the demand for beibe has been proved, and awarded sentence to the village accountant as above.
Special public prosecutor, Raveendra Munnippady, had placed arguments on behalf of the prosecution.
