Kundapur, Oct 25: The auto rickshaw driver’s association of Kundapur taluk (CITU) recently distributed scholarships to the children of rickshaw and van drivers. H Karunakar presided over the function which was held at the association office.
Valentine D’Souza, circle inspector, Kundapur range, was the chief guest. Journalist Shashidhar Hemmady was present on the occasion. K Shanker of CITU and Mahabala Voderhobli, union leader of beedi workers, were on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, D’Souza observed that the Kundapur taluk auto drivers’ association was the first to initiate such welfare activity.
He encouraged the recipients of scholarships to work hard to reach their goals despite the hurdles that they might encounter. Hemmady, Shanker, and Voderhobli also spoke on the occasion. The executive of the students’ scholarship council, Deepa S Kharvi and secretary V Chandra, were present on the occasion.
Among the council members present were Ramesh, Ganesh, Umesh, Laxman Barekatte, Krishna Devadiga, Anya, Ramadevadiga, and Ravi Shetty. On behalf of the beneficiaries, Namrata spoke. Ramanath Bhandary monitored the programme. Raju Devadiga gave the vote of thanks.
