Bangalore, Oct 23: The Popular Front of India will stage protests in various coastal towns across Kerala and Karnataka on Friday October 26, against the Indo–US joint naval exercises, being held in the Arabian Sea.
E M Abdul Rahiman, general secretary, Popular Front of India, stated that the joint exercises named ‘Malabar – 08’ is intended to be a step forward to utilize India as a strategic ally of US, to fulfill that country’s military agenda. Though, it is claimed that these exercises have been held for the past few years, the post Indo–US pact situation raises serious concerns over chances of leaking our defence secrets to a super power with imperialistic designs, he added.
It is learned that as per the Hyde Act of the US, the inter-operability achieved between the two participating nations can be used for attacking a third country. Hence, the possibility of launching an attack on other rival countries using India’s armed forces cannot be dismissed, said Rahiman.
