Mangalore, Oct 17: Family Cosmos Forum, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, in association with the district legal services authority organized a day-long seminar on ‘Media and Mental Health’ on Friday October 17. The event was held in the college auditorium to commemorate World Mental Health Day.
Praising the college management for conducting such a seminar, chief guest V C Hatti, principal district and sessions judge, said this is an example of social work done by the college in spreading awareness about mental health. He added, ‘Nowadays, every human being suffers from mental disorder. According to a study, people lose their mental balance once in a day.’
Hatti also asked the gathering to share knowledge gained from the seminar with others to help ensure mental health in the society. Dr Jacinta D’Souza, principal, School of Social Work, opined that the media could be an important tool in spreading awareness about mental health.
N S Mohammadapur, civil judge, senior divisional and chief judicial magistrate, Sr Michelle, director, Jeevan Dhara Social Service Society, were present on the occasion. Asha Nayak welcomed. Dr Rameela Shekar delivered the introductory speech. Prof Meena Monterio proposed the vote of thanks.
