Mumbai, Aug 17: Billavara Association here celebrated India's 72nd Independence Day and 30th anniversary of the association with gaiety at their local office at Dombivli here.
Priest Vishwanath Ameen offered prayers in the beginning. Elite, women, Yuvabhyudaya committee members and children prayed for the progress of the country. U Babu Poojary who arrived as chief guest hoisted the flag. The gathering sang the National Anthem and paid their respects to the flag.
Baby Rakshita Rajesh Kotian, Suraksha Palan and Soumya Palan sang patriotic songs melodiously and entertained everybody. Nikhil, Srish Ramachandra Bangera, Chinmay Mohan Salian, Ganesh Poojary, Gulabi Babu Poojary and Ishwar spoke as per context.
Chief guest U Babu Poojary called on the committee to train young members in public speaking. Devaraj Poojary who chaired the programme, called on youth to serve the country.
Ravi S Sanil compered the programme. Honorary secretary Purandar Poojary explained the forthcoming programmes by the association and thanked everyone. Light refreshments were served to the gathering at the end.
