Mumbai, Oct 17: Vasudev Kotian and lawyer Rohini J Salian were unanimously elected new chairman and deputy chairman, respectively, of Bharat Co-Operative Bank (Mumbai) Limited, at a meeting held at their headquarters in Goregaon (East), on Wednesday October 15.
Jaya C Suvarna, president of the metro’s Billava Association and former chairman of the bank, A K Chavan, co-operative societies’ election officer, Prof Shekar Poojary, and chief executive officer J C Poojary, were present on the dais.
Suvarna felicitated the newly-elected chairman and deputy chairman with flower bouquets. All the directors, Bharat Bank Employees’ Union president Ramesh T Poojary, and joint treasurer Dinesh K Sanil, also congratulated the two on the occasion.
Kotian hails from Hejamady in Udupi district and graduated from Vijaya College, Mulky, before migrating to the metro. There, he graduated in law and is now a tax consultant with Kotian and Associates. He has been associated with Bharat Bank since 1991 and has served on the board and as deputy CEO. Kotian is a philanthropist and is also actively involved with the Billava Association and religious programmes in his hometown.
A lawyer, Salian hails from Boloor, Mangalore, and began her career as a practicing lawyer in the metro. She is presently serving as public prosecutor and also advisor of Kannadiga Journalists’ Association—Maharashtra.
