Bangalore, Oct 16: State president of the BJP D V Sadanand Gowda ridiculed the alliance being forged between the Congress and the JD(S) in the state for the ensuing by-poll, as 'an understanding between the mindless and the directionless".
Speaking at a press conference after admitting ex-MLA Gantiganahalli Krishnappa and his supporters into the BJP at the party office here on Wednesday October 15, he felt that the Congress, which is clamouring for forging an understanding with the JD (S), does not have mind, while the JD (S) which is beaten and bruised, has no other go but to cling on to the Congress, hoping to get some foothold.
"This alliance will not have any adverse impact on the BJP's chances in the ensuing by election in the state. Citizens of the state have liked the performance of the BJP government. We will win all the eight seats," he said, with confidence.
"The new president of the Congress is a distressed man now, knowing fully well that he can not carry the party forward on his own. Therefore, he is looking at the JD (S) to salvage some prestige. The JD (S), which is like a sinking ship, was waiting for such an opportunity, Gowda opined.
Internal conflicts have become the bane of the Congress party and the new president has been unable to manage them. Siddaramaiah, who was an aspirant for the post of the KPCC president, is angry now, creating further problems for Deshpande, Gowda analyzed. "Development is our only agenda for the by-poll," he announced.
Expressing surprise at the election commission's action in choosing not to announce by election for the vacant assembly seats in the state, Gowda said that dates for this election, was expected to be announced.
