Mangalore, Oct 15: The special session of Mangalore City Corporation held here on Tuesday October 14, decided to regularize minor violation in building plans and maps, subject to payment of prescribed penalties and also on satisfying the condition that these changes are not objected to by neighbourers. Only houses and small shops will be regularized and not apartments or commercial complexes. The resolution will be sent for government approval.
Mayor Ganesh Hosabettu chaired the session. The session decided to give the power to collect penalty for deviations, to the commissioner.
The income of the City Corporation has been severely curtailed since the last few months, after it adhered to rule books strictly. Now, the buildings will be able to get minor deviations regularized and the Corporation will be able to improve its earnings.
Mangalore Urban Development Authority commissioner M K Gadkar informed that the draft of comprehensive development plan has been completed and is being sent to the government for approval. To a complaint made by corporator Mariamma Thomas that zonal certificates are issued after 15 days, he said that they are issued within three days. All the 1,818 objections received for the plan were individually verified, he explained.
Deputy mayor Shakeela Kava was present.
