Mangalore, Oct 15: Two persons from Bangalore, who were on a visit to the city in connection with a marriage scheduled to be held on Wednesday October 14, drowned at Someshwar beach on the evening of Tuesday October 14. One of the persons drowned was the brother of the bridegroom and another was his friend. The locals succeeded in rescuing their companion, who was trying to save them.
One of the bodies, belonging to Subrahmanya (35) from Hebbal Bangalore, was recovered. The body of Neeraj (28) from Jeppu Kudupady, is yet to be recovered. Neeraj was employed at Mumbai while Subrahmanya worked in a Bangalore factory.
A group of eight friends from Bangalore had come here on Tuesday afternoon, to attend the marriage of Ninad, a resident of Jeppu Kudupady in the city. They started from Bangalore the previous night, and came here after visiting Dharmasthala. The group accompanied by Neeraj, went to Ullal to have fun. When the group was sitting at the Rudrapade and enjoying the environment, Neeraj lost his balance and fell into the sea. Nagaraj and Subrahmanya, both from Bangalore, jumped into the sea to rescue him. The locals succeeded in saving Nagaraj.
Ullal police have registered a case.
