Mangalore, Oct 14: Writer Anandi Sadashiv Rao (80) breathed her last at her residence near Kadri Road in the city on Monday October 13, due to cardiac arrest.
Anandi, a top class woman writer, social activist and organizer, had brought out several collections of short stories and translated novels. She had presented essays at several literary meets and had presided over the Mangalore taluk Sahitya Sammelan held at Mijar. She was active in Kannda Sangha, executive committee of the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat and had worked as the president of the Writers-Readers Association of the district.
She had functioned as office-bearer of various social service organizations, as the president of Mangalore Women's Cottage Industries Cooperative Society and vice-president of Janata Bazaar. She was felicitated by various organizations.
Ex-Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Harikrishna Punaroor, DK district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura etc. have condoled her death.
