Bengaluru, Aug 8: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda will be releasing the Kannada version of ‘The Indian Parliament: A Democracy at Work’, a book authored by Congress leader and former MP B L Shanker and former professor, political science, JNU, Delhi Prof Valerian Rodrigues.

Prof J S Sadananda of Kuvempu University, Shivamogga, has translated the book in Kannada, which has been published by Prakash Kambathalli.

The English version of the book was published by Oxford University Press, New Delhi, in 2014.

The book delves into the lived experience of the Indian Parliament and argues against the widely held notion of parliamentary decline and shows how the Indian Parliament has responded to India’s changing needs in seven decades of its existence.

It also focused on the changing dynamics of the Lok Sabha and changes in the idea of the nation as it reached out to encompass pluralism and diversity.

The function would be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru on Sunday at 10.30 am.

Retired justice M N Venkatachalaiah will inaugurate the function while deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwara will preside.
