Udupi, Aug 1: Adani owned Udupi Power Corporation Limited on Wednesday August 1 unveiled four newly concreted roads constructed under its CSR programme at Mudarangadi gram panchayat limit.
968 metre length Santhuru – Bharani Road; 678 metre length Kunjibettu road in Pilar, 474 metre length Jangama Mutt road and 298 metre Vitthal Moolya road were concreted at a total project cost of Rs 1.29 crore by Adani Foundation under the Rural Infrastructure Development Programme of CSR activities and made open to the public.
Inaugurating the newly concreted road, Kishore Alva, joint president of Adani Group, informed that nowadays white taping is being done for the roads in cities and towns. Similar type of concrete roads are being constructed in and around the UPCL plant premises under the CSR initiative of Adani Foundation.
Alve explained emphasizing on rural infrastructure developments, Adani UPCL has declared a special CSR grant of Rs 22.73 crore to seven gram panchayats and Mudarangadi panchayat shares Rs 4.65 crore for a period of three years. He further said that Adani Foundation has already completed 14 development works worth Rs 2.45 crore based
on the works identified by panchayat for the financial year 2016-17 and the works of 2017-18 are in progress. The works for execution for the year 2018-19 have been shared by panchayat and soon it would be taken up and completed by September 2019 Alva added.
As part of environment promotion activity, Adani Foundation has kickstarted social forestry programme by distributing fruit bearing tree saplings to nearly 7,000 school children and is all set to plant and maintain the trees in the lands identified by Mudarangadi, Belapu and Palimar panchayat, Alva said. He further informed that 'Avoid Plastics' programme will soon be initiated in the surrounding areas.
